How to choose your floor covering?

Each type of floor has its own properties and qualities, but the choice of a floor covering is above all aesthetic and must adapt to the room where it will be installed. A few arrangements are conceivable and can be picked by wants yet additionally to spending plan and specialized requirements.

Tiling

The flooring is a durable investment. It is resistant to time and can be renovated several times (sanding, glazing or oil). There are several types of finishes for parquet:

  • Unfinished parquet, which allows it to be personalized (wax, oil, sealer, paint).
  • The vitrified flooring or varnished : it has a glossy or matte appearance. It is easy to maintain, and resistant to scratches and stains.
  • The oiled parquet: it has an authentic look and matte. Simple, its maintenance must be regular.
  • The polished floor; it offers traditional and aesthetic finish. Its maintenance is more delicate.

Laminate flooring

The laminate is a floor covering composed of a support of wood fibers and a decoration printed onto paper and coated with a protective film.

Laminate offers many styles of decoration with patina veining effects, a large choice of colors, a bleached appearance, metal or waxed concrete. Its formats are varied and exist in standard or wide planks and in the form of concrete effect slabs or imitation tiling.

PVC floors

Often more economical, easy to install and maintain, PVC flooring has been modernized by becoming decorative with its many colors, original patterns and material imitations . It is ideal for rentals, small rooms or renovation and its ease of installation makes it accessible to beginner DIY enthusiasts.

  • Tiles and adhesive planks are placed on a smooth floor.
  • Clip-on tiles and planks are designed for uneven floors and are easily removable.
  • Self-bending slabs and planks can be installed directly on a tile easily and quickly.
  • In rolls, PVC flooring is available in widths of 2, 3 or 4 m.

The appearance of a PVC floor covering is varied and adapts to all desires:

  • The boards for a parquet or concrete look.
  • Slabs for a parquet, concrete, stone, marble, cement or metal look.
  • The rollers also offer a varied choice ranging from stone look to that of a parquet, including concrete or mosaic look.

Seagrass, sisal and coconut

Decorative, natural fiber floors have different qualities and aspects: straight, basketweave, herringbone … Composed of natural fibers, they make the room healthy and provide a positive climate. Their good insulating power allows humidity regulation and good shock and noise absorption.

  • The sea grass is resistant, insensitive to stains and rot. Its weaving can be herringbone or checkerboard.
  • The sisal is available in many colors. Flat weave, its coating is soft to the touch.
